Classroom Fundraising Ideas for Young Children

If you are in charge of a group of young school kids who need to raise some money for classroom supplies, equipment, or travel expenses, this can be both a daunting and an exciting task.  School children have a natural enthusiasm that's infectious, which in many ways makes them ideal salespeople.  On the other hand, for many young students this will be their first experience with fundraising, which means it's up to you to come up with appropriate classroom Fundraising Ideas, and to keep things simple enough that everyone involved will understand how it works.

Talking to the kids about classroom fundraising ideas is essential, but that doesn't mean you have to bog them down with all the gory details about profit margins and target sales.  They only need to know the basics: namely, that the things they want for their classroom aren't free, that these things cost money, and that the money doesn't just magically appear.  Explain to them that they are going to help make the money themselves, and that it's going to be both fun and rewarding.  Kids love doing things that seem "adult" to them, and getting them involved on the ground level will help you come up with more effective classroom fundraising ideas for them.

You might be tempted only to look at classroom fundraising ideas that will appeal to kids, like chocolate and lollipops, but it's also important to keep your supporters and their needs in mind.  If the people the kids approach are likely to be adults and older people, then you'll want to consider classroom fundraising ideas that appeal to an adult crowd.  Tea and coffee work well in the winter, and flower bulbs in the late winter and spring.  Cookie dough can appeal year round, and it's one of those classroom fundraising ideas that works for every age group.
